Badassery in the Berkshires
A Project 1490 Retreat
An exclusive three-day experience with Project 1490
October 20-22, 2024
Unleash Your Badassery in
Three Short Days
Surrounded by the Berkshire mountains in the peak of Autumn, you'll feel the daily stresses fall away as soon as you arrive at the bohemian Race Brook Lodge. Over three days, you'll expand your comfort zone, your leadership skills and your network of kick-ass women leaders — and return with new skills, a new perspective and new friends. What will you do when your badassery is unleashed?
The Company You Keep
Badassery in the Berkshires is an exclusive retreat for high-performing, corporate executive women who know there's more to their potential (both as leaders and women), who wish to expand both the grace & grit in themselves and have the capacity to truly support other women. If you have a nagging feeling that there's more to be unleashed in you, this is the opportunity you've been looking for.
Built, Not Bought
Exceptional leaders possess an inherent resilience they draw upon to make critical decisions, steer through crises, and inspire others to join them. This deep-seated confidence is often built through experiences that have tested and grown their resolve over time, proving their capabilities to themselves. By grabbing opportunities to step outside our comfort zones, acquire new skills, and push beyond our limits, we can expedite realizing our full leadership potential.
And we need to — because there's something in our way...
The Confidence Gap
While there is plenty of research showing women are incredibly effective leaders who actually improve all measures of a company's (and a country's) success, we're not reaching our potential by a long stretch. The World Economic Forum predicts it will be another 130 years before we reach gender parity.
And here are a few other annoying statistics:
Our Voices
Women speak up 75% less in a room in which they are outnumbered by men.
Our Value
Men ask for raises 4x more often than women — and women ask for 30% less.
Our Opportunities
Women won't apply for jobs unless they match 100% of the qualifications, while men apply matching only 60%.
It's holding us back.
But We Can Do A LOT About It.
The best news hidden in all the research is that we don't have to wait for the world to change. We can eliminate this confidence gap that continues to hold us back. Key ingredients needed?

-
Get out of our comfort zones
-
Learn new skills we didn't think you could do
-
Surround ourselves with other confident women
-
Help and support other women on their path

And that is exactly. what Badassery in the Berkshires is here for.
Earned, Not Given
Leave the world behind for three days to retreat into nature and return with a new perspective, a host of new friends and a deeper reservoir of badassery.
Expand
Who you think are.
What you're capable of.
What you see as your value.
Grow
Your resiliency and confidence.
Your capacity to lead.
Your network.
Accelerate
Your rise.
Your path to success.
Your being the best leader you can be.
The Setting: Race Brook Lodge
Set in the Berkshire mountains, Race Brook Lodge is a funky, boutique venue without pretense. It's cozy rooms make you feel like you're visiting an old friend, while the farm-to-table food delights like you're at a fine restaurant.
Steeped in history and surrounded by 100-acres at the foot of the Taconic Range, RBL provides the perfect backdrop to leave daily life behind and have a rich, new experience outdoors. The old barn, the warm campfires and the eclectic Speakeasy add to the charm of the place where we'll make lasting memories and forge new friendships.
Hustle, Not Handed
1
The Networking
When was the last time you had a blast while networking? We're trading the stuffy ballrooms for the great outdoors where no one needs to feel the need to impress. The beauty of learning together is we're all in the same boat and getting to know each other is a heap of fun. And, then, oh by the way, the person you were just lassoing with? She could be just the person you need to know in your career! From s'mores around a campfire, to an elegant dinner with an after-party, there'll be plenty of time to not just grow your network, but make some real friends.
2
The Activities
Would you know what to do in a real crisis of survival? How would it change the way you see yourself if you were the one everyone relied on in a crazy situation? And how would that grow the confidence you carried with you at work? Leaders don't just lead in the boardroom, they lead everywhere. On retreat, we'll be trained in the art of wilderness survival by experts and learn everything from making tools, building a fire & shelter, foraging, archery and a lot more. We'll also have some fun side activities from poker to lasso that you'll be psyched to say you did when you get home!
3
The Content
What happens in 1490, stays in 1490 — giving us the freedom to speak our minds, see both our strengths & weaknesses, and be open to new ideas. We'll explore topics from Killing Imposter Syndrome, Upping our Executive Presence, Authentic Leadership, Taking Our Next Steps and more. through workshops, exercises and discussions. We'll learn from other badass leaders in fireside chats (with actual fires) and conclude with a professionally-led workshop session on How to Negotiate.
Yes, you can pull over, take this time for yourself, and make an investment in you as a leader.
And we're going to make it easy to do.
