For one night, you're not the executive, the mom, the one who has it all handled. You're the woman behind the decks, learning to actually DJ. Headphones on, hands on the turntables, figuring out how to drop a beat and make a room move.
We're doing it at Scratch DJ Academy in Brooklyn, the spot Jam Master Jay of Run-DMC built to teach the craft. There'll be some food, drinks with and without the buzz, and a room full of 1490 women cheering each other on while we all try something none of us have done before.
Here's the thing about learning to DJ: it's not really about the DJ-ing. It's about doing the new, slightly intimidating thing and seeing yourself from a completely different angle. That's kind of our whole deal.
