What's this all about, anyway?
Project 1490 is on a mission. We're not trying to be the biggest community; we're trying to be the most impactful.
This is the place members find real connections, find their real calling, and have the confidence, ability and support to make their visions a reality. Since starting in May 2024, we've held done dozens of events and hosted hundreds of women — and it's working. Above anything else, "transformational" is the comment we hear most often — and we couldn't be prouder.
Members themselves make their own impact on Project 1490. From the Job Hunting Cohort to the 1490 Book Club to the Writer's Circle and more — when members bring ideas; we listen so that Project 1490 is a reflection
A Little About Our Members
The women of 1490 come from different industries, different backgrounds, and cross different generations, but they share some important qualities.
They are open to new things, they are more than willing to help other women, and they are not afraid to admit their own struggles. They are real. They are wise. They are successful. They are brave. They are vulnerable. And, they are after something in this life.
They are renaissance women.
They range in age from 30-62 and are Managers to CEOs to Founders. While about 65% of members reside in the NYC tri-state area, we have members in cities across the country.

The Back Story
From Project 1490 Founder, Sarah Dale

JERSEY GIRL MOVES TO MONTANA
I was 24 when I moved from New York City to Montana after a solo vacation to Big Sky. Over the next seven years, I was lucky enough to meet people who introduced me to adventures I never thought I'd experience.
NO, REALLY
I grew up in Jersey.
No one's Bingo card had me
living in Montana.

BUILDING BADASSERY
Learning how to brand cattle, hunt with a bow, build a house, and all kinds of mountain sports; I discovered aspects of myself I hadn't known were there. Without realizing it, I was building a confidence and self-reliance that would prove invaluable in my life and career.
I also fell madly in love with nature.
THE IDEA
I wanted other women to have similar, transformative experiences without having to move to Big Sky. I started to craft a new venture: I would bring city women out to Montana for "Outward Bound" meets "Oprah" type retreats. They'd have amazing experiences, go beyond themselves, reconnect with nature, and return to their lives with a new sense of who they were and what they were capable of.
It was going to be amazing. But, it wasn't meant to be. I got divorced, moved back to NYC in survival mode, and jumped back into a career in advertising.

FAST FORWARD
Over the next 20 years in NYC, I had a great career. I rose up the ranks at The Wall Street Journal and ended up as the first female C-level executive at an ad tech company. But this dream from Montana just kept bugging me.
Again, I was lucky enough to meet people who got me past all the obstacles, both real and imaginary. Finally, I put it together that these seemingly opposite sides of my life were actually just the ingredients this 22-year-old idea was waiting for.
INTRODUCING PROJECT 1490
Project 1490 is a membership community for high-achieving women from manager to C-level. It's purpose is to nurture all sides of women and accelerate whatever they really wish to accomplish in this life. By providing unique opportunities to go beyond ourselves and build resiliency, it is a launchpad for them to reach the full potential they already know is in them. It is a community of ambitious, open-minded, kick-ass women, who are there to support and encourage badassery in themselves and each other—and become the renaissance women they wish to be.
